I like to thank you for fighting for our country.   It’s  good to hear that you're well , and looking after yourself.

I hope that your neck, ear and  jaw will get better.  It’s good to hear that the nurses are looking after you well.   How wonderful that they are so helpful to you.  What are you able to eat at the moment?   Is there something I can send you?

It’s good to hear that your brothers are well in France.  It sad to hear that you have to stay in England for 3 or 4 months.

Semi Math Problems

In kiwi sport this this team , team we are learning how to play basketball. So far, we have learnt how to dribble the ball.

A-Chelsea was able to dribble the ball 58 times.

b- Elizabeth could only dribble half that amount.

58 divided by 2 = 29
50 / 2 = 25
8 / 2 = 4
25 + 4 = 29

C- Semi could dribble the ball 7 time more than Chelsea.
58 x 7 = 366
50 x 7 = 350
8 x 7 = 56
350 + 56 = 366

D- Izac could dribble the ball 3 times more than Elizabeth.
29 x 3 =87
20 x 3= 60
9 x 3 =27
60 + 27 = 87

Semi word problem

An Up & Go machine was installed in the Year 7&8 common room.  The machine can hold 450 Up and Go’s.
If each of them cost $2.50, how much money would the machine make if they were all sold out?
2 x 400 = 800
2 x 50 = 100
800 + 100 = 900
$1 x 400 = 400
$ 1 x 50 = 50
400 + 50 = 450
450 divided by 2 = 225
225 + 900=1125

Treaty of Waitangi

The Treaty Of Waitangi Questions And Answers!
How do you know about what happened in your family before you were born?
  • I stay up late and  listen to my parents and grandparents when they tell stories or whether we have a family talk.
  • How do we know how people lived long ago?
  • There were carvings of very special icons/items/special people or plants that has been carried out through generation to generation.
  • How did Makereti know what life was like for iwi before she was born?
  • Makereti wrote a book about how the old-time Maori lived before the arrival of the Pakeha. She described what it was like to live in a kainga:
What are some of the rules we have:

  • At home - No swearing, No fighting, Don’t talk back.
  • At school- Be respectful to each other, No shoes inside, No swearing
  • Respect people property- No stealing stuff, No smacking window.
  • When we go out to different places-Always be nice to people, Don’t be rude.
  • When we are with different people- No Asking them for 1v1, No stealing stuff

Why do we have rules?
  • What would happen if there were no rules?
  • Every single person would go crazy if there were no rules!
  • Make a chart showing family or school rules
  • How do we make social rules? Who makes them?
  • We make social rules by respecting the normal rules and make everything easier to do. The Prime Minister makes social rules.
  • If you think a rule or law is bad, what can you do about it?
  • We can contact the Prime Minister and tell him what's best for nz.
  • How do you decide if a rule is good or bad? Think about who the rule is good
                  or bad for?
  • By doing and respecting them and make a good deal out of it.
  • What happens when we disobey rules?
  • We could be charged to court or get your self in a detention!

Similarities and Differences

  • Think about and discuss all the ways that your life might be similar to that of a child living in Aotearoa before Pakeha settlers arrived.
  • There is one thing that is similar to my life and that was the time when I was been taught how to hunt for food.
  • Discuss the ways that your life is different from that of a Māori child before the Pakeha settlers arrived.
  • I have never had any settlers arriving.
  • Make two lists, one for things that are the same and one for things that are different.

Place Names

  • Think of Māori place names in your area.
  • Rangitoto Island
  • Find out why those names were given. Use a Māori dictionary (if you need to) or talk to a kuia and kaumatua.
  • The name Rangitoto is sky blood in english.
  • Think of some non-Māori place names in your area.
  • One Tree Hill

  • Find out why those names were given.
  • Because It is an important memorial place for both Māori and other new Zealanders.
  • Discuss the differences between the way Māori and non-Māori name places.
  • It is because there are two cultures that has became as one after they had signed the treaty and that is because there was Maori and Pakeha.
  • Discuss why Māori and non-Māori have named places differently.
  • It could be about they wanted to share the land with each other and become friendly to one another.
