All About Me
WALT Keep It Real
Treaty of Waitangi
The Treaty Of Waitangi Questions And Answers!
How do you know about what happened in your family before you were born?
- I stay up late and listen to my parents and grandparents when they tell stories or whether we have a family talk.
- How do we know how people lived long ago?
- There were carvings of very special icons/items/special people or plants that has been carried out through generation to generation.
- How did Makereti know what life was like for iwi before she was born?
- Makereti wrote a book about how the old-time Maori lived before the arrival of the Pakeha. She described what it was like to live in a kainga:
What are some of the rules we have:
- At home - No swearing, No fighting, Don’t talk back.
- At school- Be respectful to each other, No shoes inside, No swearing
- Respect people property- No stealing stuff, No smacking window.
- When we go out to different places-Always be nice to people, Don’t be rude.
- When we are with different people- No Asking them for 1v1, No stealing stuff
Why do we have rules?
- What would happen if there were no rules?
- Every single person would go crazy if there were no rules!
- Make a chart showing family or school rules
- How do we make social rules? Who makes them?
- We make social rules by respecting the normal rules and make everything easier to do. The Prime Minister makes social rules.
- If you think a rule or law is bad, what can you do about it?
- We can contact the Prime Minister and tell him what's best for nz.
- How do you decide if a rule is good or bad? Think about who the rule is good
or bad for?
- By doing and respecting them and make a good deal out of it.
- What happens when we disobey rules?
- We could be charged to court or get your self in a detention!
Similarities and Differences
- Think about and discuss all the ways that your life might be similar to that of a child living in Aotearoa before Pakeha settlers arrived.
- There is one thing that is similar to my life and that was the time when I was been taught how to hunt for food.
- Discuss the ways that your life is different from that of a Māori child before the Pakeha settlers arrived.
- I have never had any settlers arriving.
- Make two lists, one for things that are the same and one for things that are different.
Place Names
- Think of Māori place names in your area.
- Rangitoto Island
- Find out why those names were given. Use a Māori dictionary (if you need to) or talk to a kuia and kaumatua.
- The name Rangitoto is sky blood in english.
- Think of some non-Māori place names in your area.
- One Tree Hill
- Find out why those names were given.
- Because It is an important memorial place for both Māori and other new Zealanders.
- Discuss the differences between the way Māori and non-Māori name places.
- It is because there are two cultures that has became as one after they had signed the treaty and that is because there was Maori and Pakeha.
- Discuss why Māori and non-Māori have named places differently.
- It could be about they wanted to share the land with each other and become friendly to one another.

My Holiday
What I did in my holiday
On the holidays I went to health camp with my mum. First we put our bag next to the window and line up to go into the hall. Then the people sing to us. After when they were finished they line up in a circle and we went around to meet them and shake hands.
After that we went into the dining room and we had some sandwich. When we were finished we went to get our bag from the window and went with it our bedroom. Then we get see where we were sleeping and I was in B1. Soon our social workers told us to come down to the mat to see the rules were.
Then we went outside to play around the field and we played soccer it was fun. It was nearly 5 o'clock so we all line up and went up stand and to wash our hands for dinner. When were finished having our dinner we went to the bathroom and had our shower. After our shower went into the whare and we watch some movie. Then it was hot chocolate time and it was nice.
After we went to watch our movie until 7 o'clock it was bedtime so all went to bed and the social workers read us a story.

Auckland Museum
When the year 8’s went to their camp our class Panuba went to the Museum. First we marked the roll and then we went into 8 groups. When we were finished putting ourselves into 8 groups we went one by one into the bus. After we went into the bus some boy’s and girl’s was happy because we were going on a trip to Auckland museum.
After we were there we went inside the museum and sat down and some of the girl’s and boy’s was singing. Then a man came and said eye on me and we all look at him then he told use the rules he said there are no running no shouting no swearing. When he was finished we have to walk up the stand because we won't allow to take the elevator. Our teacher was taking use to the lurch room to eat. After we were finished we went down stand and we all had a paper to draw a maori pattern.
Mr Bark took us to a maori pattern and it was cool the thing I like was the boat because is was big and long it look like maui boat when he was fishing. After the maori pattern we went to the Marae we have to take off our shoe’s just in case it muddy. Soon we were go to go and look that the shark. The shark at the end it teeth was sharp and it nearly cut my off skin.
Later on Mr Bark said we have to go back into the bus put we had to search for things like flower and pond. When I went to the pond I saw lot of fish’s and flower’s it look like I’m in wound land. Mr Bark said let go and take some photo’s some of us said yes but not all of us said yes. Later Miss send and text to Mr Bark she said we are leaving now Mr Bark said let go so we all ran to the bus but I was walking so we can get more time to talk and sleep.
When we got to school we said thank you to the bus driver and we went to class and start talking and Miss Paget said let play head’s down thumbs up. She pick me and some our boy’s and girl’s than ever on went down to play we have to pick someone with their thumbs up and I pick kroilee. Then the bell ring and we all said goodbye Mr Bark and Miss Paget hope you have a good day.
